About Our Servers

Our servers' goal in life is to provide you with a
service that is fast, powerful and just plain fantastic!


Our servers run the Xen Hypervisor which handles all CPU, RAM and disk allocation, and ensures the best performance possible for all users.

Why should I consider a VPS?

A VPS gives you your very own space, just like you would with a dedicated server, at a fraction of the cost. While a dedicated server may seem attractive, the truth is, a lot of them out there sit idle most of the time, wasting electricity, rackspace and money. By using a VPS, you get the benefits of a dedicated server (as you have ultimate control over the software installed), but at the fraction of the cost since the physical server is "split up" with other users. Most of the time, you probably won't even notice the difference!

Think of a dedicated server like an expensive mansion with only a couple of people living in it. Now think of a VPS like your very own apartment, with the complex having a friendly doorman who is willing to go out of his way to help you.

Since 2007, our infrastructure has been relied upon by many UK businesses for their mission-critical I.T. services. With rock solid servers that are rigorously monitored and maintained, you can be sure that the system will work great!

Where are your servers located?

We have a presence in 3 datacentres: 2 in the UK (Gosport and Nottingham) and 1 in Germany (Frankfurt). All sites have on-site security and support staff with strong security systems in place including keycard access, weight monitoring, air-lock doors as well as CCTV covering the entire area. You can be sure that your data will be safe. Furthermore, on-site support staff (who sit a matter of meters away from the servers) are willing to solve any technical problems regardless of the time of day or night.

Having our infrastructure split over different physical locations allows us to have excellent backup and data replication systems in place, as well as being able to offer our customers multiple international locations.

In the future, if we get enough demand from our customers, we may expand our network to include servers in other countries.

What about connectivity?

We buy our bandwidth from companies who have a strong "Point of Presence" in the datacentres where our servers are located. They have diverse redundant 10G fibre links back to the central IXs, where they operate a ring which goes through 5 data centres, to offer protection incase of an issue at one of the buildings. Furthermore, the network backbone is based on ISP-grade Cisco and Juniper hardware.

Additionally, Rackulous is pleased to offer a full Gigabit Access Network to all of our customers.

The routing tables which our bandwidth providers have are some of the best in Europe with peering at the following Internet Exchanges:

With the above highly peered network, along with new peering agreements being put into place frequently, ping times accross the world are kept to an absolute minimum.
